Frequently Asked Questions
-
Halo Pro™
-
Q: What results can I expect?
Halo is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. You will see improvements in overall tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines*, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity and glow.
*only with full face resurfacing treatments
-
Q: What happens during the treatment?
Thirty minutes to an hour before the treatment your esthetician may place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. The area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. The clinician will treat each measured section by uniformly rolling the Halo handpiece over the skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.
-
Q: What does Halo™ feel like?
With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience very little discomfort. Most patients describe the treatment as a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 15 to 30 minutes, or a bit longer with deeper treatment levels.
-
Q: How soon after my treatment can I return to normal activities?
For the first 24 hours you should keep your skin protected according to your esthetician’s instructions, but after that you should be able to go about your normal activities. After the first 24 hours your skin will begin to peel, but you will be able to put on makeup. For a facial treatment, you will see very little change on the first day. After two to three days you will develop a light bronzing appearance. By day three or four your skin will peel, revealing your new skin beneath.
-
Q: When will I see results?
You will see initial results between two and five days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest pigmentary improvement in the first two to three weeks. This is followed by a dermal regeneration phase that continues to improve for months.
-
Q: How long will my results last?
Your Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results, giving you even better-looking skin.
-
Q: How much does a Halo treatment cost?
Every Halo treatment is customized for your skin, and your lifestyle. Depending on your needs, your esthetician may recommend a single treatment, or a series of treatments. In order to find out which is the best option for you, please visit our MedSpa for a FREE consultation.

Q: Will BOTOX® cosmetic make me look like I have had work done?

A licensed medical professional will talk to you about the results you expect to achieve and make recommendations based on the severity of your crow’s feet or frown lines. Veins
-
Q: How do non-surgical vein procedures differ from surgery?
Surgery involves considerable preparation, general anesthesia and a lengthy recovery. The state-of-the-art technology used by The Vein Center eliminates all of that.
- First, it’s “minimally invasive,” meaning the entry point through which our physician inserts the treatment catheter to the target area is extremely small requiring no stitches.
- Second, there is minimal to no downtime. In fact, you’ll be up and walking as soon as it’s over and able to return to normal activity.
Thermal ablation uses a high-energy heat source to deliver energy to the targeted vein, causing the incompetent vein to close while your body automatically routes blood to other healthy veins restoring venous circulation back to the heart and eliminating venous congestion in the legs.
-
Q: What is the actual procedure like?
It takes only 60-90 minutes and no general anesthesia is required, just local anesthetic injected to numb the treatment area. The procedure is performed in the office. After numbing the treatment area, a thin treatment catheter is inserted into the problematic vein and the thermal energy is delivered to the vein through the catheter heat. While you might feel mild pressure, it should not be painful.
-
Q: Is thermal ablation safe?
Thermal ablation procedures have been proven safe and effective in many medical studies and with several years of clinical use. These procedures offer less risk and downtime compared to conventional surgery.
-
Q: Will they last?
Varicose veins are not curable, but we can help you manage your venous disease and maintain your treatment results. In clinical trials, thermal ablation has been proven to be up to 98% effective in closing treated veins permanently. Follow up procedures such as ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy may be required to treat your abnormal veins in completion.
-
Q: Will my insurance cover it?
Varicose vein treatment is covered by most insurance companies as long as your symptoms and severity meet medical criteria. Our staff will assist in verifying coverage before any treatments are performed.
-
Q: Do I need a doctor's referral?
Although many of our patients are referred by doctors, you may make an appointment without a referral. If you are experiencing symptoms but aren’t sure if they are due to varicose veins, you are welcome to schedule a consultation to find out more.
-
Q: Why should I get my veins treated at The Vein Center, aren't all treatment providers the same?
There are many physicians that treat veins including: general surgeons, dermatologists, vascular surgeons and interventional vascular radiologists.
The doctors at our Vein Center are Interventional Vascular Radiologists and all of our providers are members of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society. We specialize in medical and cosmetic comprehensive vein treatment.
-
Q: Why do I need to wear compression stockings?
The first step toward medical vein treatment is conservative management (required by most insurance companies), which includes daily use of compression stockings prior to invasive vein treatment. While we don’t expect compression stockings to cure your veins, they do help to manage the symptoms of venous hypertension.
Compression stockings are also required for up to two weeks following procedures to ensure complete closure of the treated veins.
-
Q: How do I know which vein procedure is right for me?
Following an initial consultation and possible ultrasound evaluation, patients will receive a personalized treatment plan which may include thermal or adhesive catheter ablation, ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, and micro-phlebectomy.
-
Q: Will I be awake during the procedure?
We do not use general sedation for these procedures and you will be awake throughout. However, we may occasionally prescribe oral sedatives to ease anxiety. We request that you walk immediately following procedures to keep risk of deep vein thrombosis (blood clot) low and avoiding general sedation makes this possible. You can also drive yourself to and from your procedure!
-
Q: Do I really need to treat my veins? Isn't it just cosmetic?
While some people may not feel any symptoms from their varicose veins, recent studies have found an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis associated with the presence of superficial vein disease, which may be fatal or lead to severe chronic disability. For more information click here.
-
Q: What is Deep Vein Thrombosis?
If blood doesn’t flow properly through your veins, it can pool in your blood vessels and the platelets may stick together, forming a clot. Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms in a deep vein inside your body. This is most likely to happen in your lower leg, thigh or pelvis but it can occur in other parts of your body too.
DVT can lead to major health problems. If a blood clot breaks free and moves through the blood stream, it may become lodged in a blood vessel in your lungs (resulting in a pulmonary embolism or PE), heart or brain and can be fatal.
-
Q: Can you help me if I have varicose veins in other places besides my legs?
Yes. We also treat pelvic congestion syndrome and deep pelvic veins resulting from abnormally dilated veins deep within the pelvis which may cause pelvic pain, unexplained vaginal bleeding or painful intercourse.
-
